Dear Fans and Friends! I have just gotten back from the most amazing, short, but memorable trip of my entire life ! – so far that is… Italy was amazing. We stayed in Rome for 4 days- not nearly enough to see everything we wanted to, but enough to get the general idea of its awesomeness. While there, We went and saw the Pantheon, the Coliseum, the Mouth of Truth, Roman Forum, Spanish Steps, Museums of Vatican, Sistine chapel, Trevi fountain, Building dedicated to reunification of Italy and many other wonders. One day we ventured out on fast Eurostar train to city of Florence, where we visited Church with Michelangelo, Galileo and Mackaveli tombs. The Sistine Chapel was my favorite! With the works of major artists such as Michelangelo ( The Last Judgement Day), Sandro Boticelli, Cosimo Rosselli, and many others- just enough to make anyone’s mouths drop open. It was amazing. - but nothing could hold a candle to the Vatican’s St. Peters Basilica, the biggest church in the world. On the morning of July the 15, everyone was excited- everyone being the Renissance Singers- a group of around 64 people from 14 states in the US. Only 18 youth participated in the group. All dressed in our long black skirts and white blouses, we made our way up to the center of the city of Rome to a completely different country. Once we stepped through the walls of the Vatican, we were no longer in Italy- but in a country dedicated to God. This is an Amazing thought. We continued to St. Peter’s Basilica. After warming up in a corner outside of the Basilica, we entered a building of such a great history. Statues- each one the only one of its kind, tombs of pervious popes, gold and painted ceilings, and single piece marble pillars- indescribable majesty ,wealth and beauty. It is no wonder that people come from all around the world to see this place dedicated to God. Then it was time. We sang as a main Vatican Choir during the main Sunday Mass. I will never forget the experience. Getting to sing with the Vatican Cantors was simply amazing. The way that the 64 voices in the choir echoed off the marble walls in the Basilica was awe striking. During the service St. Peters Basilica, holds about 4500 people and about 30-40 thousand are watching the service on the big screens in the square, not to mention, that the service is being televised and via cable or satellite TV goes in to the millions of households… The opportunity to sing there is probably the most distinguished honor that my mother and I have ever had in our lives- and a memory that I will cherish forever
